About The Position

BURNCO is seeking a Yard Helper for their Aggregates team in Colorado. This full-time, permanent, field-based position at the Ewing Pit in Fort Lupton, CO, involves performing essential manual and operational tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of an aggregate plant. The role requires a strong safety mindset and the ability to work effectively both independently and in small teams. Responsibilities include routine duties such as material handling, equipment operation, maintenance, safety inspections, and teamwork to meet daily production goals, all while adhering to company and regulatory safety standards. The position involves working 12-hour shifts, including weekends, and requires regular work outdoors exposed to varied weather conditions and environmental factors. Offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of fitness for duty assessments, including drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check.

Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and shovels
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and in small teams
  • Willing and able to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends
  • Strong safety mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the aggregate industry
  • Welding skills
  • Experience operating heavy machinery in a plant environment
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks such as shoveling gravel, dust control, yard cleanup, machinery inspections, loading / unloading, inventory storage, and general facility housekeeping
  • Support equipment operators as needed
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • Conduct minor maintenance and basic repairs on equipment
  • Use various hand tools to complete daily work requirements
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational priorities and assist with cross-training in other roles
  • Help maintain a safe, hazard-free work environment through regular housekeeping and maintenance tasks
  • Walk the plant regularly to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and completed repairs
  • Complete required documentation, report operational issues to the Foreman, and identify opportunities for plant improvements
  • Adhere to all safety policies, including MSHA and company regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
