About The Position
This position assists workers engaged in fabrication of structural or sheet metal products by performing various duties in a year-round outdoor environment. The role involves operating strapping tools, banding finished product, applying labels, spray painting color coding, and maintaining a clean work area. The Yard Hand will also learn product identification and be trained on forklift and loading operations.
Requirements
- Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training.
- Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
- Able to perform basic math (adding, subtracting).
- Able to read a ruler.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors year round.
- Must work well with others in a year-round outdoor environment.
Nice To Haves
- Forklift experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Operate strapping tools safely and understand banding procedure.
- Band/strap finished product to protect the material and ensure straight, square, tight skids.
- Apply all labels straight, neatly, and in their proper location.
- Spray paint color coding by gauge.
- Keep the pull-ticket area clean and organized daily.
- Understand product/item codes and product identification.
- Perform other routine duties.
- Observe Safety and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
