About The Position

The Yard Driver (Night Shift) is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within the yard of our steel distribution center during nighttime operations. This role is essential to supporting overnight shipping and receiving activities, ensuring smooth logistics flow, and maintaining operational readiness for day shift teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL required
• Minimum of 1 year of yard driver or spotter experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate yard trucks and back trailers accurately and safely.
• Must be available to work overnight hours (typical shift: 5:00 PM – 4:30 AM or as scheduled).

Nice To Haves

• Flatbed Experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of steel handling preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard truck to move trailers to and from loading docks, staging areas, and designated spots in the yard.
• Ensure proper trailer placement to support nightly shipping, receiving, and production schedules.
• Perform pre- and post-inspections of yard trucks and report any mechanical issues immediately.
• Communicate effectively with night shift warehouse personnel, shipping/receiving teams, and supervisors.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements during the shift.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.
