About The Position
A-Line is seeking a dependable Yard Driver to support its Waterloo operation. The position is primarily focused on driving and positioning trailers within the yard, with occasional small local runs as needed. The role involves handling flatbed and tanker trailers, preparing equipment for loading and unloading, conducting basic inspections, and coordinating trailer movements with plant and operations teams. The driver must follow DOT, company, and safety requirements and help maintain an organized, efficient yard.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Safe driving record.
- Comfort with backing and maneuvering trailers in tight spaces.
- Comfort working around heavy equipment and in an industrial environment.
- Dependability and a safety-minded approach.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work, including cleaning trailers.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Nice To Haves
- Previous CDL or commercial driving experience.
- Experience with flatbed or tanker trailers.
Responsibilities
- Move and position trailers throughout the yard for loading and unloading.
- Drop and hook trailers in various areas of the yard.
- Safely maneuver flatbed and tanker trailers.
- Make occasional small local runs as needed.
- Stage trailers and equipment for daily operations.
- Back trailers into designated areas.
- Clean and prepare trailers for loading and unloading.
- Perform basic trailer inspections.
- Communicate with plant and operations teams to coordinate trailer movement.
- Follow DOT, company, and safety requirements.
- Help keep the yard organized and operating efficiently.
- Perform other driving and yard duties as needed.
