Yard Driver - CDL, Hayward - Full Time
About The Position
The Warehouse Associate plays an important role on our Supply Chain team, helping to ensure merchandise is moved efficiently and accurately to our stores and customers. Alongside your core warehouse responsibilities, you'll also support Yard Driver tasks about 10% of the time—assisting with the movement of trailers within the facility and to our local stores helping to keep the yard organized and operating smoothly. This role offers a balance of structure and variety, making it a great fit for individuals who enjoy diverse tasks, work well in a team setting, and take pride in performing their duties with safety and precision. A strong focus on hospitality and customer service is essential, as the quality of your work directly influences the customer experience we deliver.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a Department of Transportation medical examination and a valid driver’s license.
- Have a valid drivers license.
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Self-starter in adapting quickly to changing customer expectations and needs.
- Proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology.
- This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
- Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, and stooping.
- Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment.
- Ability to hear and see safety/emergency alarms and Power Industrial Truck (PIT) warning devices to ensure safety while on warehouse floor.

Responsibilities
- Load and unload merchandise from trucks and conveyors.
- Sort, organize, and move packages utilizing both manual and powered equipment.
- Perform receiving, processing, and shipping tasks while meeting productivity and accuracy goals.
- Collaborate with team members to accomplish daily objectives and sustain a positive, respectful work environment.
- Operate handheld devices and systems for tracking inventory and processing tasks.
- Operate a yard truck/terminal tractor to safely move trailers between dock doors, designated yard locations, or nearby store locations.
- Safely back trailers into docks as directed by dispatch or warehouse leaders.
- Inspect trailers and secure them before movement.
- Maintain accurate trailer movement logs or records in yard management systems.
- Conduct daily inspections of yard truck to ensure safe operation.
- Keep yard organized, clear of hazards, and in compliance with safety protocols.
- Communicate delays, issues, or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
