Yard Driver, China Grove - Full Time
About The Position
Macy’s Yard Drivers perform all functions related to moving trailers within the facility as directed by the Management team. The role includes loading and unloading merchandise and supplies, delivering them to various departments, and refueling vehicles. Driving company vehicles is required, and colleagues must be willing to train on all power equipment operations. The work takes place outdoors regardless of weather conditions. The position requires the ability to move trailers up to 53 feet long in tight conditions and working knowledge of yard tractor trailers and dollies. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, communicate effectively, understand and interpret English-language workplace and safety materials, and work independently as well as with a team. Basic computer and handheld technology skills are required, as is schedule flexibility, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. The role involves prolonged standing and walking, frequent use of computers and handheld electronic equipment, and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, depth perception, and color vision may also be required. For colleagues in applicable supply chain facilities, random drug testing is conducted monthly or semi-monthly, with testing required within 24 hours of notification. Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to move trailers up to 53 feet long quickly in tight conditions.
- Working knowledge of yard tractor trailers and dollies to identify issues or potential problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret employment policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals in English.
- Resourceful self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of computers and handheld technology.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to perform prolonged periods of standing and walking and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical activities that may include reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, depth perception, and color vision.
