About The Position

DSV is seeking a Yard Driver for the P.M. Shift in Richardson, TX. This is a full-time position within the Road Transport US division. The role involves moving trailers, containers, and equipment within the yard, conducting inspections, and coordinating with various operational teams. The Yard Driver will also be responsible for maintaining yard organization, tracking movements, and ensuring safety compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic transportation environment and contribute to the efficiency of the logistics operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous yard driver, hostler, shuttler, warehouse, or transportation experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating a yard tractor, terminal tractor, or similar equipment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain company yard certification and safety training.
  • Class A license required.
  • Basic understanding of trailer types, coupling/uncoupling procedures, and dock operations preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Time management and prioritization.
  • Situational awareness in high-traffic environments.
  • Basic technology skills (handheld scanners, tablets, or yard management systems).

Responsibilities

  • Move trailers, containers, and equipment to and from loading docks, staging areas, and parking locations within the yard.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard tractors, trailers, and equipment and report defects or damage.
  • Ensure trailers are properly secured, chocked, sealed, and docked according to safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and operations personnel to prioritize trailer moves and dock assignments.
  • Maintain accurate yard location tracking using yard management systems (YMS), tablets, handheld devices, or written logs.
  • Verify trailer numbers, seals, and load documentation prior to movement.
  • Assist in yard organization, including staging empty and loaded trailers in designated areas.
  • Monitor yard conditions and immediately report safety hazards, equipment issues, or security concerns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned yard tractor and equipment.
  • Comply with company policies, OSHA safety standards, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations during peak periods as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Benefits

  • Annual gross wage of $57,000 - $66,000, dependent on shift and own personal performance.
