About The Position

The Yard Driver Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the truck yard. This includes managing trailer placement, maintaining traffic flow, keeping the yard clean, performing pre-trip inspections on shag trucks, and adhering to all company procedures and safety protocols. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with drivers, team members, and management, as well as for handling radio communications and emergency situations.

Requirements

Must have a clear Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and pass the MVR Records check.
No DUI/DWIs in the last 12 months.
Valid State issued Driver's license.
At least 18 years of age.
Must maintain an attendance of 6 points or less.
Candidates that have worked for Tyson Foods or Tyson Affiliates 3 or more times will not be eligible for rehire.
Strong communication skills to ensure safety, efficiency, and coordination in the yard.
Ability to clearly convey and understand instructions.
Ability to collaborate with team members.
Ability to respond appropriately in various situations, including emergencies.

Responsibilities

Ensure every trailer has a nose stand and is properly chocked.
Maintain good traffic flow of outside drivers while on Tyson property.
Ensure the truck yard stays free of debris and trash.
Perform pre-trip inspections on Shag trucks and report any defects to the supervisor immediately for repair.
Maintain the cleanliness of the shag trucks on a daily basis.
Abide by all PBX (part of Tyson foods, Inc.) Shag Procedures and Training.
Ensure safety is the top priority while operating a shag truck.
Communicate effectively over radio and with all levels of management.
