About The Position

This position is responsible for backing in and removing trailers from the Dock. The Yard Driver backs in trailers for loading/unloading as required. Trailers are also backed into Americold for loading. This position is responsible for operating yard trucks and moving trailers in and out of loading areas while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid state driver's license
No DUI/DWI’s in the last 12 months
At least six months continuous work history within the past 2 years
At least one year experience using a yard truck to back trailers to and from loading/unloading docks
Clean safety record obtained through MVR clearance
Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
Willing to tolerate extreme cold and extreme heat (9-12 hours per day)
Willing to bend at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (9-12 hours per day)
Willing to twist and turn (9-12 hours per day)
Willing to climb in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (9-12 hours per day)
Willing to walk a great deal (9-12 hours per day)

Responsibilities

Operate yard truck in a safe manner at all times by following all safety procedures
Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard
Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner
Set reefer units at appropriate settings
Check to see if reefer units will start
Communicate with operations and follow instructions
Safely secure trailers
Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance
Be responsible for the cleanliness of the shuttle truck
Perform pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift
Perform lot checks as requested by management
Refuel reefers and/or yard trucks as needed
Other Duties as Assigned
