About The Position

This position is responsible for operating a yard truck in a safe manner, moving trailers between the yard and doors, and communicating with drivers and dispatch. The role also involves setting reefer units, performing pre-inspections, and maintaining the cleanliness of the truck. The Yard Driver Operator must be able to tolerate extreme weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Requirements

Must have a clean safety record obtained through MVR clearance.
Must possess at least 6 months of experience in operating tractor trailer rigs within the last 2 years.
Position requires a valid driver license.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must be willing to tolerate extreme cold and extreme heat (9-12 hours per day).
Must be willing to bend at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (9-12 hours per day).
Must be willing to twist and turn (9-12 hours per day).
Must be willing to climb in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (9-12 hours per day).
Must be able to walk (9-12 hours per day).

Responsibilities

Operate yard truck in a safe manner by following all safety procedures.
Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard.
Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner.
Set reefer units at appropriate settings.
Check to see if reefer units will start.
Communicate with dispatcher and follow instructions.
Chock trailers.
Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance.
Ensure breaks are staggered.
Maintain cleanliness of the shuttle truck.
Perform pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift.
Perform lot checks as requested by management.
Other Duties as Assigned.
