xIL Plant Modeling and Integration Engineer

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

Stellantis Propulsion is seeking an xIL Plant Modeling and Integration Engineer to join the PRSW/HIL Plant Modeling Team (XPMD). The role focuses on developing plant models, including reducing models for use on HIL systems and adding library models to the plant-model repository, and integrating models into MIL, SIL, and HIL environments. The engineer will work with HIL systems and MIL/SIL systems developed using Soft ECUs, Virtual ECUs, and plant models. The role primarily interfaces with the xIL Systems team to troubleshoot during test-property commissioning. The engineer will collaborate with global teams across North America, EMEA, APAC, and LATAM in a fast-paced environment, with interdisciplinary work involving powertrain ICE, HEV, and BEV systems. Additional work includes benchmarking, evaluating new xIL technologies, coordinating with suppliers on plant-model requirements, and collaborating on processes, methodologies, and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL).
  • Experience with plant and controller modeling, simulation, development, and testing.
  • Experience in Model-Based Development on a powertrain application; Matlab-Simulink, Stateflow, or SimScape preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with powertrain ICE, HEV, and BEV systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with HIL systems, such as dSPACE, ETAS, or NI.
  • Experience with C/C++ code generation.
  • Experience with 1-D physical modeling tools such as GT Power or AMESim and co-simulation tools.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work directly with individuals and groups.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter able to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong team-player orientation, systems focus, and interdisciplinary experience.

  • Working experience in Model-Based Development with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/Simscape.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, thermal modeling, 1D models, and specific simulation software.
  • Knowledge of HIL and closed-loop plant models executing in real-time environments.
  • Experience working within an AGILE or Scrum framework.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments with minimal effect on productivity.
  • Strong understanding of embedded-software development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management.
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS-INCA or Vector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plant models, including reducing plant models for use on HIL systems.
  • Populate the plant-model repository with library models.
  • Integrate plant models into MIL, SIL, and HIL environments.
  • Troubleshoot with the xIL Systems team during commissioning of test properties.
  • Conduct benchmarks and evaluate new xIL technologies.
