The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure, implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation, and creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines. This role also involves assisting Physicians, Extenders, and Nurses with patient treatment and care, including locating patients, obtaining accurate vital signs, triaging patients, assessing patients’ problems, and preparing patients for physicals and medical treatment. The technologist will handle requests from Physicians, Extenders, and Nurses with respect and in a timely manner, file and maintain all x-ray paperwork, and ensure the safety of patients when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment. A key part of the role is understanding and using Patient First reporting tools such as the Daily Log, X-ray Listing, X-ray Status Screen, and Impression Log, as well as the medical records system. The position requires cleaning the work area, performing biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines, and other maintenance assignments. Restocking x-ray and Treatment Area supplies, attending training classes and staff meetings, and working with fellow employees and externs during on-the-job training are also responsibilities. The X-ray Technologist will directly supervise externs and Radiologic Technologist Assistants, ensuring they perform quality x-ray exams with correct positioning and radiation exposure according to Patient First guidelines. Availability to assist as needed, with the understanding that breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted, is essential. The role also includes checking email, reviewing assigned memos and policies, and completing assigned checklists during each shift.
