The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure, implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation, and creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines. The role also involves assisting Physicians, Extenders, and Nurses with patient treatment and care, handling their requests with respect and in a timely manner, and filing and maintaining all x-ray paperwork. Ensuring patient safety when using equipment, understanding and using Patient First reporting tools and the medical records system, cleaning the work area, performing biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines, and restocking supplies are also key duties. The position requires attending training classes and staff meetings, working with fellow employees and externs during on-the-job training, and directly supervising externs and Radiologic Technologist Assistants. Employees must be available to assist as needed, as breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted. Checking email, reviewing assigned memos and policies, and completing assigned checklists during each shift are also expected.
