About The Position

Albany Medical Center is seeking Medical Imaging Techs for their EmUrgentCare team. The ideal candidate will be adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively. This is a full-time position (36 hours/week) with three 12-hour shifts, located onsite at Niskayuna EmUrgentCare sites, with some reimbursable travel required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
  • Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic x-ray procedures
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and body mechanics necessary to safely perform x-ray exams
  • Basic knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide routine diagnostic imaging procedures to children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients with consideration to cultural and developmental stages during the exam process
  • Multi-tasking as a team player in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program - required
  • Associate's Degree Applied Science Degree - required

  • Effectively and professionally communicate with patients and their family members, co-workers, and visitors to AMC.

Responsibilities

  • Properly identify and prepare patients for radiologic procedures and perform diagnostic x-ray exams following established protocols and procedures for patient care and safety in an outpatient urgent care setting
  • Accurately select the correct patient, anatomy and protocols to complete exam
  • Confirm, schedule and log completed radiologic procedures in computer and site schedules
  • Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms at all times
  • Collect vitals and brief medical history of patients
  • Directing patients to examination rooms
  • Ensuring rooms are setup for efficient patient care
  • Ordering and re-stocking of medical supplies
  • Team support to medical providers and front desk
  • Maintain competent imaging skills.
  • Practice in compliance with AMC and department policies as well as New York State Department of Health and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists standards.
  • Assist physicians in all aspects of procedures in their assigned area.
  • Provide a safe, positive experience for the patient.
  • Act as a mentor and preceptor to new staff and students.
  • Actively support AMC and the imaging department in maintaining proper accreditations.
  • Accurately enter patient data into the computer system(s).
  • Perform QA on images to ensure it is of diagnostic quality as well as containing accurate patient information prior to sending to PACS.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age and special characteristics of the patients.
  • On-call duties, if applicable.
  • Strive to grow and develop, creating a professional, progressive department with a positive atmosphere.
  • Practice of sterile technique, when applicable.
