About The Position

Essen Health Care is a privately held, multispecialty medical group in New York, serving patients through more than 50 locations and in-person, in-home, and telehealth care. The X-Ray Technician performs radiographic procedures to help physicians diagnose illnesses, diseases, and injuries. The technician explains procedures to patients, limits their radiation exposure, and works with the resident Radiologist to determine whether further testing is needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in radiologic technology, radiology, or a related field.
Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Appropriate state licensure.
Proven experience working as an X-ray technician.
Ability to move or lift patients.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Verify patients’ identities and review physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients’ bones, tissues, and organs according to physicians’ written orders.
Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions.
Position patients for procedures, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
Limit patients’ radiation exposure by using lead shields where needed.
Ensure x-rays are of sufficient quality to prevent repeat procedures.
Work with the resident Radiologist to determine whether further tests are required.
Ensure x-ray equipment is regularly serviced and in good working order.
Promptly notify management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
Maintain accurate records of completed x-ray procedures.
