About The Position
Amentum is seeking an X-Ray Scanner Clerk to support their contract in Springfield, VA. This role involves preparing and processing incoming and outgoing mail, including classified materials up to TS/SCI. Key responsibilities include affixing postage, maintaining records, and overseeing mail distribution schedules. A significant part of the role involves operating X-ray scanning equipment to scan media for viruses and perform content searches, ensuring no classified material leaves the facility. Mail will be opened and inspected using containment hoods, and inspection stickers will be attached. The position requires a willingness to accept the potential risk of Chemical Biological Warfare (CBW) contact during mail handling.
Requirements
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Ability to operate X-ray scanning equipment.
- Ability to operate mail containment hood ops (mail sniffers).
- Ability to operate mail and letter opening equipment.
- Ability to handle classified mail up to and including TS/SCI.
- Ability to handle visual media up to 75 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Prepare incoming mail for distribution and process outgoing mail.
- Distribute and collect mail.
- Determine and affix postage.
- Maintain records on postage, registered mail, and packages without direct supervision.
- Comply with and support established procedures for inbound and outbound mail processing, including unclassified and classified mail up to and including TS/SCI.
- Use proper handling procedures for all classified mail.
- Oversee pickup and delivery schedules.
- Scan all incoming and outgoing media, including visual media up to 75 pounds, for viruses.
- Perform a “dirty word” search to ensure no classified material inadvertently exits the Scanning Facility.
- Operate X-ray scanning equipment, mail containment hood ops (mail sniffers), and mail and letter opening equipment.
- Open and inspect all mail using the containment hoods.
- Close mail and attach an inspection sticker.
- Be willing to accept the risk of Chemical Biological Warfare (CBW) contact during mail handling.
