About The Position

This position involves performing Computed Tomography (CT) examinations on patients of all ages, from birth to death. The CT Technologist coordinates patient flow and other activities related to the CT scanner, and supervises the operation of the CT scan room, providing direction to other personnel. The role operates under the direction of the Director and the Vice President of Ancillary Personnel. Responsibilities include administering contrast material, operating and preparing CT equipment safely, participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, assisting physicians with procedures, and assisting patients during examinations and biopsies. The technologist will communicate with nurses and physicians regarding patient care, provide directions to staff and patients, maintain positive relationships with staff, physicians, and patients, and replenish supplies in the CT area. Essential record-keeping duties include backing up exams, obtaining history sheets, and charging for exams. The role also involves cleaning and maintaining equipment, transporting patients when necessary, ensuring proper patient identification using a two-identifier method, and taking night and weekend call. Familiarity with and utilization of all radiation-reducing measures, including pediatric techniques, is required. Compliance with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program is mandatory, as is passing initial and annual competency testing.

Requirements

• Graduation from accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• Registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Must have current Radiation Operators Certification with the Kentucky Department of Human Resources.
• BLS Required.

Responsibilities

• Perform CAT scan examinations on patients in age from birth to death.
• Coordinates patient flow as well as other activities involving the CT scanner.
• Supervises the operation of the CT scan room as well as providing direction for other personnel assigned to that area.
• Performs and administers contrast material for examinations.
• Operates and prepares CT equipment in safe and correct manner.
• Must participate in CQI activities and provide input for improvement.
• Assists physicians with procedures.
• Assists patients during examinations and biopsies.
• Communicates with nurses and physicians regarding patient care, provides directions to staff and patients.
• Maintains good repose with staff, physicians and patients.
• Replenishes supplies in the CT area.
• Performs necessary record keeping for procedures, which includes but is not limited to backing up exams, obtaining history sheets, and charging exam.
• Cleans and maintains equipment.
• Will transport patients, when necessary, assures proper patient identification by utilizing 2 identifier method.
• Takes night and weekend call.
• Is familiar and utilizes all radiation reducing measures.
• Complies with the policies, principles, and activities established by the Code of Conduct and the Corporate Compliance Program.
• Must pass initial competency test and year competency testing thereafter.
