About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking an X-Ray Assistant to transport patients, supplies, and laboratory items safely and efficiently throughout the facility, and to assist with mail delivery as needed. The role includes ensuring patient identification and records match before transport, communicating patient arrivals and departures to nursing staff and tele-techs on cardiac monitored units, and maintaining transport equipment and patient safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

• 1–2 years of experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver supplies, mail, and laboratory items as directed.
• Transport patients to and from bedside using the directed mode of transportation.
• Confirm patient identification and ensure information matches the record log before transport.
• Notify the nurse of a patient's arrival and departure from the unit, and notify the tele-tech on cardiac monitored units.
• Manage transport equipment, clean and sanitize it after use, and return it to the proper storage area when not in use.
• Handle and store oxygen tanks safely according to policy.
• Maintain patient safety and handle patients in a calm and reassuring manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
