About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center providing diagnostic and therapeutic care across medical and surgical specialties, along with inpatient and outpatient services. The X-Ray Assistant transports patients, supplies, and laboratory items safely and efficiently throughout the facility, assists with mail delivery as needed, and supports patient safety and equipment management. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, effective communication and customer service skills, and basic computer skills. Hospital experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver supplies, mail, and laboratory items as directed.
• Transport patients to and from bedside using the correct mode of transportation as directed.
• Verify that patient identification and information match the record log before transport.
• Notify the nurse of a patient's arrival and departure from the unit, and notify the tele-tech on cardiac-monitored units.
• Properly manage transport equipment, clean and sanitize it after use, and return it to the proper storage area when not in use.
• Handle and store oxygen tanks safely according to policy.
• Maintain patient safety and handle patients in a calm and reassuring manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
