About The Position

The WWTP Trainee at the City of Milton is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant facilities. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in the processes and procedures involved in the treatment of wastewater to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Physical ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.

Nice To Haves

• An associate degree or coursework in environmental science, biology, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience with basic laboratory procedures and safety protocols is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring and adjusting treatment processes to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure operational efficiency.
• Collect and analyze samples of wastewater and other materials to assess treatment effectiveness and identify any potential issues.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to plant operations, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.
• Support senior staff in troubleshooting and resolving operational problems as they arise.
• Participate in training programs to develop a comprehensive understanding of wastewater treatment processes and safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and coordination of activities.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
