About The Position

MMR Consulting is a consulting firm specializing in the pharmaceutical /biotechnology and highly regulated industries. Its services include Owner’s rep, Project Management, and Validation. MMR Consulting has offices across North America and Asia. This is an outstanding opportunity to join our growing team, where the successful candidate will work with a group of engineers involved in the design, commissioning & qualification, start-up and project management of various processes, systems, and facilities. The work will require working out of the client’s facilities in Raleigh, North Carolina. This role is for a Civil Engineer who will provide field engineering, quality control and technical support for the civil, structural and architectural (CSA) scope of an industrial capital project at a wastewater treatment facility. Working closely with the Construction Manager (CM), the successful candidate will oversee soil, excavation, foundation, structural and tankage work, act as a technical advisor to the project team, and ensure the work is built to design and specification. The ideal candidate should possess leadership skills to lead/mentor intermediate/junior engineers.

Requirements

University degree in Civil Engineering (or a similar discipline).
8+ years of civil/structural/architectural experience on industrial capital projects.
Experience with Wastewater Treatment Plants is required, including soil, excavation, foundations, structures and tankage.
Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFI and submittal processes.
Field inspection and quality control experience on active construction sites.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the CM, contractors and client stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Professional Engineer (PE) license is an asset.

Responsibilities

Review civil, structural and architectural design documents and participate in design reviews.
Provide technical advisory support to the project team, including solution design and implementation support.
Verify materials against project specifications prior to and during installation.
Coordinate day-to-day work with the Construction Manager (CM) and provide site coordination with contractors and other disciplines.
Perform daily field inspections of soil, excavation, foundation, structural and tankage work.
Track CSA schedule activities, RFIs and submittals.
Carry out quality control activities to confirm work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
Identify and manage technical risks and develop and follow up on mitigation plans.
Monitor project metrics and prepare progress reports.
Provide project status updates during project meetings.
Engage with stakeholders, including the client, CM, designers and contractors, to resolve technical issues.
