About The Position

The Lifeguard Team’s overall responsibility is the safety and operation of rides and attractions. All lifeguard applicants will have to complete the Ellis & Associates lifeguard training course (that we provide) prior to employment which will be held at Water World prior to the season. Lifeguard training consists of CPR and First Aid, lifeguard water skills, vigilance training, ride operations, and lifeguard operations. You’ll need to know how to swim but we’ll also help you refine your skills! We make training easy! The Ellis & Associates lifeguard training cost is $105 for new Water World Lifeguards. This position is a vital role on our Water World Lifeguard team, providing a welcoming and safe environment for our guests. This position is seasonal and operates from the end of May (Memorial Day weekend) through the beginning of September (Labor Day). Although we prefer you to work 3–5 days per week, our flexible scheduling allows you to make your own schedule and earn 40 hours weekly. Weekend and Holiday shifts are required but not everyone will be scheduled. Exact hours a day will vary slightly throughout the season depending on our operating schedule and weather conditions. Shifts are typically 8 hours a day starting at 9:50 am and ending at 6:20 pm. $16.95 per hour base pay PLUS earn up to an additional $1/hour ($17.95 total) with the End of Season Bonus Program Base Uniform Cost $45 End of Season Bonus Program Be in Good Standing! Work your scheduled shifts and have availability to work through our closing day (Labor Day, 9/7/2026). Have no unexcused missed shifts beginning July 19th (this is the home stretch!). Good attendance and scheduling availability as noted in your team guidelines.

Requirements

  • Should be 15 years old by first day of work.
  • Must be able to swim 50 meters without stopping (at your own pace).
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work independently for short periods of time.
  • Must be dependable and punctual with transportation to and from work.
  • Must be prepared with the items you need to do the job.
  • Must be safety aware and take proactive measures to maintain safety.
  • Must be vigilant and avoid distractions.
  • Must have a clean uniform and look professional.
  • Must be courteous and work together with your fellow team members.
  • Must meet specific physical requirements to complete your lifeguard license and remain in good physical and mental condition to perform the tasks of your job.
  • Must be cordial and polite, creating a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent aquatic emergencies but also be a first responder for incidents by recognizing, responding and providing appropriate care.
  • Follow training skills.
  • Ride dispatch at bottom of select attractions, including guiding guests through an exit channel in our family tube rides.
  • Provide amazing guest service.
  • Patron (guest) surveillance, ensuring guest safety while swimming and enjoying attractions.
  • Respond to emergencies using water rescues and basic life support (learned during training).
  • Rule enforcement of ride specific and facility rules for guest safety.
  • Warn guests of potential hazards.
  • Basic first aid for guests who have minor injuries.
  • Effective communication and teamwork with all team members.
  • Notify supervisor as needed.
  • Provide a standard of care.
  • Have a professional image and actions.
  • Other water safety tasks as assigned.
