About The Position

Water World is seeking Lifeguards to ensure the safety and operation of rides and attractions. This vital role provides a welcoming and safe environment for guests. The position is seasonal, running from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. While 3-5 days per week are preferred, flexible scheduling allows for up to 40 hours weekly. Weekend and Holiday shifts are required. Exact hours may vary based on operating schedules and weather conditions, with shifts typically being 8 hours long, starting at 9:50 am and ending at 6:20 pm. Lifeguard applicants must complete a provided Ellis & Associates lifeguard training course, which includes CPR, First Aid, water skills, vigilance training, and ride/lifeguard operations. Swimming ability is necessary, and skills will be further developed during training.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old by the first day of work.
  • Must be able to swim 50 meters without stopping.
  • Deep guards must be able to swim 200 meters without stopping within a 5-minute time period.
  • Must be able to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the deepest part of the pool, tread with it for 1 minute, drop it, and tread for another minute with no hands.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work independently for short periods.
  • Must be dependable and punctual with transportation to and from work.
  • Must be prepared with the items needed to do the job.
  • Must be safety aware and take proactive measures to maintain safety.
  • Must be vigilant and avoid distractions.
  • Must maintain a clean uniform and professional appearance.
  • Must be courteous and work cooperatively with team members.
  • Must meet specific physical requirements to complete lifeguard license and remain in good physical and mental condition.
  • Must be cordial and polite, creating a positive guest experience.

  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical capability to complete manual labor tasks such as pushing and flipping tubes.
  • Ability to swim 50 yards at any given time.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent aquatic emergencies and act as a first responder by recognizing, responding to, and providing appropriate care.
  • Follow training skills.
  • Dispatch rides at the top and bottom of attractions, ensuring guests understand and follow rules.
  • Provide excellent guest service.
  • Perform patron surveillance to ensure guest safety while swimming and enjoying attractions.
  • Respond to emergencies using water rescues and basic life support techniques.
  • Enforce rules on attractions and facility rules for guest safety.
  • Warn guests of potential hazards.
  • Provide basic first aid for guests with minor injuries.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with all team members.
  • Notify supervisors as needed.
  • Maintain a professional image and actions.
  • Perform other water safety tasks as assigned.
