About The Position

The University of Denver Sturm College of Law is seeking part-time (hourly, non-benefited) Writing Advisers to support the DU Bar Success Program. This program assists graduates of Denver Law with bar preparation through workshops, mock bar exams, individualized feedback, and coaching. Writing Advisers will provide comments on bar essays and performance tests, and offer one-on-one coaching to help graduates stay on track. This is an hourly, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Requirements

  • A JD or equivalent legal degree
  • Licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Prior experience in legal practice or academic support where high-level legal writing and analysis were primary job functions.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically "Track Changes" and "Comments" in Word) and comfort navigating Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education, teaching, instructional design, cognitive science, counseling, and affiliated fields.
  • Licensed to practice law in Colorado

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and support the Program Director and Assistant Director.
  • Provide individualized feedback to answers submitted by students from mock bar exams and workshops.
