About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting regular practice sessions for the boys' wrestling team. The Head Coach will develop and implement game strategies, teach fundamental skills and rules, and supervise student-athletes during all team activities. A key aspect of the role involves monitoring academic progress, promoting discipline and sportsmanship, and ensuring compliance with all athletic regulations. The coach will also manage team equipment, collaborate with the athletic director, communicate with parents, and provide mentorship to student-athletes regarding personal development and college opportunities. Enforcement of school policies and codes of conduct is also required.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
Valid FHSAA certification.
Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level.
Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture.
Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.
Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics.
Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players.
Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms.
Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use.
Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
