About The Position
Henninger High School is seeking Modified - Head/Assistant Wrestling Coaches. The Syracuse City School District offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that is certified, dedicated, and enjoys working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) focuses on skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, rather than winning. The high school level (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) emphasizes a higher refinement of skill, competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course
- Valid Adult CPR certification
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check

- Valid Concussion Management Certificate
- Previous Coaching Experience
Responsibilities
- Coach student athletes in wrestling, focusing on skill development, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work.
- Prepare young student athletes for higher levels of competition.
- Stress the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
- Encourage maximum participation in the modified program by not emphasizing winning and encouraging large team numbers.
- Strive for success and efficient team and individual effort at the high school level.
