About The Position

This position is responsible to the Athletic Director, Program Head Coach, and Administration. The coach must be able to attend all school practices, games, tournaments, meetings, etc., and drive district vehicles to transport participants. The role involves supporting the Head Coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport and the total athletic program of the school district, including upholding the Head Coach’s leadership and the team’s goals. Team members should be willing to adapt their individual views on strategy and tactics to align with the overall direction and objectives established by the Head Coach. The coach will assume responsibility for the maintenance of facilities and personnel in the absence of the Head Coach and report all injuries, misconduct, or other unusual situations to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal. Assistance is required in checking in and inventorying all equipment at the end of the season. The coach will assume all duties assigned to the Head Coach in the event of their absence. Compliance with WIAA coaching certifications standards is required, including attending rules clinics, workshops, and classes. Discipline should be applied in a fair, firm, and positive manner, and conduct should be ethical during practices and contests. The coach will provide information regarding Letters and special awards and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Mandatory WIAA rules clinics and Safe School tests must be completed and filed with the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Must be able to attend all school practices, games, tournaments, meetings, etc.
  • Must be able to drive district vehicles to transport participants.
  • Willingness to adapt individual views on strategy and tactics to align with the overall direction and objectives established by the Head Coach.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Physical ability to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to effectively manage student transition to a variety of locations (e.g. P.E., recess, buses and lunch) throughout the day.
  • Maintain compliance with WIAA coaching certifications standards.
  • Complete and file mandatory WIAA rules clinics with the Athletic Director.
  • Complete and file mandatory Safe School tests with the Athletic Director.
