About The Position

The Wrapping Lathe Operator 1 is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting wrapping manual lathes. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in recording daily production and quality data, ensuring product conformity using various measuring tools, and interpreting blueprints. The operator must maintain a clean and safe work area, manage material movement, and execute shop order integrity. Additionally, this position involves preventing exotherm through awareness of material properties and coordinating production activities. The role also includes training new operators and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. and stand for an 10 – 12-hour shift
  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 2+ years of production experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Wrapping Manual Lathe
  • Record and turn in daily production and quality data
  • Uses quality measuring tools to verify product conformity (i.e. micrometers, calipers, temperature sensors)
  • Reads and interprets blueprints to plan setup and operations of machines
  • Reports all maintenance problems to supervisor for prompt attention
  • Report any safety issues to supervisor
  • Maintain a positive attitude, and work with others as required in a team-based work environment.
  • Prevent exotherm through awareness of work material’s physical and chemical properties (roving, resins, hardners, wax, ect.).
  • Follows daily production schedule to meet internal and external customer requirements
  • Ensure complete electronic and physical control of all material movement in and out of workstation.
  • Responsible for timely transaction and issuing of material for production
  • Execute shop order integrity (labor and material) for all shop orders entering workstation.
  • Proficient in use of transaction terminal for transaction and reporting
  • Report non-conforming material using red tag.
  • Attend departmental start up and end of shift meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all required production paperwork is properly filled out and submitted on a daily basis (daily checklist, red tags, adjustment forms, shop order review, receiving listings).
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area by ensuring immediate stocking or issuing of incoming material.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving paperwork issues preventing delivery of orders.
  • Works closely with supervisor to support daily production objectives.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Assist in material transaction at external machining work centers as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Be able to run any one of five filament winders
  • Serve as trainer for new Operators
  • All other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor.
