About The Position

LTI is seeking a mechanically inclined and precision-focused individual to join their team as a Lathe Operator. This role is crucial to their Machine Shop department, involving CNC and manual turning operations on customer-provided materials. The operator will be responsible for setting up machines for various run lengths, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with machining requirements. This is a second shift position, Monday to Friday, 2:30pm – 11pm, located in Hatfield, PA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
  • Candidate must have mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Understanding of how to operate shop tools and equipment desired.
  • Computer skills required: Enterprise Resource Planning System and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry and/or move varying weight, and up to 50 pounds.
  • Must meet citizenship eligibility required by accrediting bodies.
  • This position requires use of information or access to processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export laws including but not limited to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • In accordance with ITAR, to be qualified to work in this facility, applicants must be a US Person, which is defined as a US National, US Permanent Resident, and certain categories of Asylees and Refugees.

Responsibilities

  • Performs CNC and manual Lathe operations, setting up for long and short runs of parts.
  • Center drills and rough turn specimens out of odd-shaped configurations.
  • Operates multiple machines during a normal workday.
  • Follows all applicable and required specifications and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance to machining requirements.
  • Maintains traceability of materials and parts during operations.
  • Ensures shop equipment and instruments are functioning properly and in calibration prior to performing any work; Informs appropriate personnel whenever equipment is found to be out of calibration or in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoots issues, taking appropriate corrective action within established guidelines.
  • Monitors scheduled completion dates and times to ensure that established schedules are met.
  • Notifies supervisor whenever the schedule might not be met.
  • Inputs required data into Shop-Trak software accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Assists with maintaining shop equipment; including cleaning equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repair maintenance as required.
  • Assists with the disposal of scrap metals turnings from within the department.
  • Understands and complies with LTI’s QA Program at all times.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations; utilizes personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains assigned work area(s) in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
