About The Position

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a WPC Dryer Operator. Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant will become operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026! The Dryer Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the dryer, while monitoring the quality of processed product, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), and safe work practices. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend basic English language
  • Must be able to perform basic mechanical functions, including ability to evaluate and identify mechanical conditions and to make adjustments as necessary
  • Ability to perform mathematical functions
  • Ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs
  • Ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures
  • Ability to maintain clean work area according to good manufacturing processes
  • Ability to complete written reports, and enter data into and pull data from computer systems
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety practices
  • Good communication skills to communicate with co-workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts

Nice To Haves

  • One year of work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in machine operation and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the dryer and its associated equipment and/or processes, monitoring dryer settings and temperatures, handling and testing chemicals, and monitoring and testing powder quality
  • Participate in and implement continuous improvement
  • Complete paperwork and computer data tracking timely and accurately
  • Troubleshoot all equipment and identify potential problems in order to maintain product specifications
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, team leads, and supervisors
  • Follow sanitation procedures of all equipment at shutdown
  • Complete assigned GMP and housekeeping duties as required
  • Perform work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conduct
  • Ensure product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies
