About The Position

Provides debridement and wound care to patients to decrease complications, speed healing time, and assist in maximum recovery for patients.

Requirements

  • Must have completed or hold one of the following: Two (2) years of experience in a Med/Surg environment, A formal nurse aide course, A current certified nurse aide registry, A medical assistant course, A current medical assistant certificate, A patient care technician course, A current patient care technician certificate, Must be a currently enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing and must have documentation of basic fundamentals of nursing from the school, Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Parkland's job specific training program
  • Must have current heartsaver provider CPR course completion card within 30 days from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network
  • Must be able to successfully complete all department assigned competencies.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff and hospital personnel.
  • Must be able to document care given in the medical record.
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
  • Must have good fine motor and manual dexterity skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a wound care technician preferred.
