About The Position

The Wound Care Registered Nurse (WC RN) operates with a high degree of autonomy under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, and/or manager. This role involves communicating and collaborating with physicians, other hospital nursing staff, and healthcare team members to deliver consistent, high-quality care to patients in the wound treatment program. The WC RN is responsible and accountable for assigned patients, acting as a case manager to plan, evaluate, and implement patient care in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act. Duties include adhering to all hospital policies and procedures, completing initial admission processes, taking vital signs, performing wound assessments and photography, applying wound dressings, conducting vascular assessments, managing wound Vac, applying compression therapy, assisting physicians with procedures, and educating patients and their families.

  • Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill
  • Must complete and pass all annual competencies
  • State of California RN license required
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required

Nice To Haves

  • Areas of expertise preferred but not limited to are: acute care, urgent care, medical surgical, community nursing, home health, hospice and or rehab experience
  • Wound care experience within the past two years is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Optional ACLS
  • Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) and/or Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certifications preferred

Responsibilities
