About The Position

Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, and/or manager, the Wound Care Registered Nurse (WC RN) collaborates with physicians, hospital nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to deliver consistent, high-quality care for wound treatment program patients. The WC RN operates with a high degree of autonomy, acting as a case manager responsible and accountable for planning, evaluating, and implementing patient care within the guidelines of the State Nurse Practice Act. The role requires adherence to all hospital policies and procedures, encompassing duties such as initial admission processes, vital signs, wound assessments, wound photography, wound dressings, vascular assessments, Wound Vac application, compression therapy, assisting physicians with procedures, and providing patient and family education.

Requirements

  • State of California RN license required
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required
  • Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill
  • Must complete and pass all annual competencies

Nice To Haves

  • Areas of expertise preferred: acute care, urgent care, medical surgical, community nursing, home health, hospice and or rehab experience
  • Wound care experience within the past two years is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) and/or Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with and collaborate with physicians, other hospital nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to provide consistent quality care for wound treatment program patients
