About The Position

Skilled Wound Care is hiring physicians of all specialties to provide wound care and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across Oakland, California. Physicians evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds, perform bedside procedures, and collaborate with care teams in skilled nursing and post-acute settings. Comprehensive wound care training is provided; prior wound care or procedural experience is not required. The role offers full-time or part-time weekday schedules, with no nights, weekends, or on-call responsibilities. Physicians use custom documentation software intended to reduce administrative time and have clinical autonomy in guiding patient outcomes. Compensation is based on per-patient and per-procedure pay, with quarterly bonus programs. The posting describes average annual earnings of $250,000–$500,000 and states there is no earning cap for independent contractors; top performers may earn more than $500,000 through performance bonuses.

Requirements

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Unrestricted or clear medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
Physicians from any specialty are welcome.
Completed residency and board certification or eligibility are not required.
Prior wound care or procedural experience is not required; comprehensive training is provided.
Candidates must complete pre-employment confidential DiSC testing and relevant skills testing.

Responsibilities

Perform surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures.
Evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds.
Use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols.
Collaborate in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings, following patients through healing.
Lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across the Oakland area.
