Wound Care Nurse (RN) - Full Time
About The Position
The Wound Care Nurse Registered Nurse (RN) works at Select Specialty Hospital - Laurel Highlands in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. The nurse helps preserve skin integrity, provides compassionate wound care, and supports patients throughout their recovery. The role includes an extensive RN orientation program, opportunities for career growth through clinical ladder programs and certifications, and access to continuing education and tuition support. The position is full-time, with compensation of $35.62–$47.25 per hour.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing (AD) required.
- At least one year of related experience required.
- Valid state RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by the start date.
- Complete wound care training within the first 90 days in the role.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Preserve skin integrity by implementing and monitoring skin preservation strategies.
- Ensure wound and skin care protocols are approved by the medical staff.
- Organize weekly multidisciplinary wound and skin rounds for high-risk patients and patients with current pressure ulcers or other significant wounds.
- Provide hands-on wound care for difficult and non-healing wounds.
- Serve as a resource to hospital staff on wound and skin care issues.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met.
