About The Position

The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus-Wound Care Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. This is a full-time Wound Care Mid-level (PA/NP) position to lead the Wound Care Clinic program in the Topeka, KS market area, in collaboration with Healogics and The University of Kansas Health Services. Healogics is the world’s leading expert in wound healing, with over 30 years of experience treating patients with chronic wounds. This position is based in an outpatient wound care clinic and is exclusively dedicated to procedural wound care. The clinic operates with standard daytime hours, averaging around 40 hours per week, with no night shifts, on-call responsibilities, or weekend hours. Patients are seen by appointment only. The clinic is integrated with IHeal, and the physician will be employed by The University of Kansas. This is a procedure-oriented environment primarily serving geriatric patients. The successful candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible and possess a strong procedural background. Recent experience with procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage (I&D), or other types of procedures is required. Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy training are available. A full clinical team will be in place from the start date.

Requirements

  • NP or PA degree
  • Must be Board-Certified/Board Eligible
  • Clear and Active State Medical License
  • DEA License
  • Strong procedural background
  • Recent experience with procedures such as suture, incision and drainage (I&D), or other types of procedures is preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Procedural case logs will be requested as part of the credentialing process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Wound Care Clinic program.
  • Provide advanced wound-care treatments including: Cellulitis therapy, compression therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, infection management and prevention, wound cleaning, and wound dressing.
  • Collaborate with Healogics and The University of Kansas Health Services.
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage (I&D), or other types of procedures.
  • Utilize Healogics' expertise in wound healing.
  • Work within a procedure-oriented environment primarily serving geriatric patients.
  • Participate in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy training if needed.
  • Work with a full clinical team including Case Manager, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Nurses, Office Manager, and Front/Back End Support.
