About The Position

Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a full-time Wound Care Nurse (LVN) to join their team of health care professionals in their newly renovated facility. This position is responsible for providing specialized care for patients with acute and chronic wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and other skin integrity issues. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound care treatment plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal healing and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a vocational nursing program approved by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Current, valid, and unencumbered Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of Texas or compact state
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience in wound care or related specialty preferred
  • Wound care certification preferred or must be obtained within 12 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Develop individualized wound care plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Administer wound treatments including debridement, dressing changes, and negative pressure wound therapy.
  • Monitor wound healing progress and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on wound prevention and management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control policies and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff regarding wound care best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
