About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) to join its sales organization. SSAs are responsible for working with customers who have complex challenges requiring expert-level knowledge to design scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures. This role involves guiding customers in refactoring applications or designing new cloud-based systems. The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) focuses on driving revenue, adoption, and growth across various account sizes, from mid-market to enterprise and public sector. WWSO teams collaborate to build and execute go-to-market plans for complex customer problems, providing expertise throughout the customer initiative lifecycle. The specific role is for a SQL Analytics Specialist Solutions Architect, who will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud-based analytics solutions using Amazon Redshift and its ecosystem (including Redshift Serverless, data sharing, Redshift ML, zero-ETL integrations, Data Lake architecture, Iceberg tables, S3 tables, Athena, and SageMaker Lakehouse). This role is crucial for helping customers build the data foundation for their AI projects and investments. The Specialist SA will act as a trusted customer advocate, helping organizations understand advanced cloud solutions, migrate workloads, and shape strategies for AWS adoption. A key aspect of this role is the ability to connect technology with measurable business value.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • 3+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
  • 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
  • Experience working with end user or developer communities
  • Knowledge of open table formats, especially Iceberg
  • Understanding of data foundation principles supporting agentic systems

Responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
  • Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.
  • Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best in class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide.
  • Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.
