The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for a World Languages Teaching Faculty position in its secondary teacher preparation program. The program provides teacher candidates with practice-based field experiences in local classrooms and community-based educational spaces, and integrates commitments to equity and the recognition of Indigenous legacies. This is a 12-month, academic staff, non-tenure-track position with an anticipated appointment ranging from part-time to full-time. The assignment may fluctuate between 50% and 100% FTE according to programming needs, budget considerations, and courses assigned. The central portfolio is World Language Education (WLE). Appointments above 50% FTE will include additional teacher education courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise and program needs. The faculty member will teach world language education courses, supervise and mentor teacher candidates and field supervisors, lead WLE program planning and cohort progress, build partnerships with schools and cooperating teachers, and direct recruitment and program-improvement efforts. The role also includes broader instructional responsibilities such as assessing learner performance, developing effective teaching techniques, providing instruction and grading, supporting instructional staff, and contributing to grant proposals and program reviews.
