About The Position

Woburn Public Schools is seeking a Middle School World Language Teacher specializing in Spanish/French. The teacher will report directly to the Principal and collaborate with school personnel to provide a safe, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment with high expectations for all students. The role involves creating an inclusive classroom, teaching the World Language curriculum, and working cooperatively with a team to maintain a strong school program aligned with state and district frameworks. The teacher will implement effective instructional strategies, participate in ongoing professional development, and create rigorous, standards-based units of instruction. Differentiated instruction for diverse learners, regular assessment of student progress, and timely feedback are essential. The teacher will also work with struggling learners, modify instruction, diagnose student abilities, and monitor progress. Participation in professional development, adherence to policies, maintenance of accurate records, and collaboration on school-wide committees and events are also expected. All other duties assigned by the Principal or WPS Administration will be performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university required.
  • Current Massachusetts's DESE Secondary Certification in World Languages.
  • Experience working in a diverse educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and their ability to comfortably share their authentic selves.
  • Teach to the World Language curriculum, and work cooperatively with a team to maintain a strong school program incorporating both state and district frameworks.
  • Incorporate into his/her teaching repertoire the teaching and learning strategies developed through the programs of WPS; implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
  • Remain current by participating in ongoing professional development activities within and out-of-district, such as instructional technology.
  • Create rigorous standards-based units of instruction that are aligned with grade level standards.
  • Use successful, research-based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
  • Regularly assess student abilities in order to design and implement strategies to enhance student learning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based curriculum and principles of effective instruction.
  • Work with small groups of struggling learners, while modifying and differentiating instruction.
  • Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress through a variety of assessments in a timely and consistent manner; monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Provide progress reports as required.
  • Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities within district and out-of-district.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies, district handbook, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Serve on school-wide committees, work in collaboration with colleagues, and help organize school-wide events.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Principal or WPS Administration.
