About The Position

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Workshop Technician in Sudbury, ON. At Sandvik, we offer a world of opportunities, recognizing performance and providing ways to fuel growth. We have openings for a licensed Workshop Technician responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical aspects of Sandvik equipment and components. We are looking for licensed Automotive, Truck & Coach, or Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics.

Requirements

  • Technical (Mechanical) diploma is required.
  • Red Seal certification or in the process of achieving this
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ related experience with industry specific equipment.
  • Automotive, truck & coach or heavy-duty equipment experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to read/comprehend related schematics.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and self-motivated with demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes in relation to product rebuilds.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Sandvik equipment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Follow scope of work within time constraints to meet established delivery targets.
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scope of work.
  • Identify additional repairs, compile parts and labor estimates and communicate to the supervisor.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
  • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts listings.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.
  • Build sound relationships with the workshop team and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support and act as a mentor to workshop apprentices.
  • Undertake self-training and development as required.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Manager.
