Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of experience in community education
  • Valid California driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation to travel between sites for meetings and/or to gather information for reporting purposes
  • Ability to present information accurately and effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and groups
  • Good verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers and other staff
  • Ability to handle confidential materials and information in a professional manner
  • Basic computer knowledge, Internet use, MS Office and Excel, data entry
  • Work independently, take initiative, and be proactive
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to track and manage time effectively
  • Ability to plan and facilitate internal and community meetings
  • Excellent customer service skills and commitment to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or associates degree with minimum two years of experience in community education

Responsibilities

  • Provide group education and skill-building activities to program participants and community members.
  • Implement identified evidence-based curriculum(s) and education models with fidelity
  • Schedule, plan, promote and implement workshops and other required activities
  • Lead outreach/in-reach activities within VCC and the community to recruit program participants
  • Sustain and/or build community partnerships to advance program activities
  • Work collaboratively with program staff to assist enrolled program participants
  • Maintain ongoing contact with program participants to build trusting relationships
  • Demonstrate familiarity with VCC programs and services
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of educational sessions
  • Follow program protocols and complete program documents and reports
  • Participate in internal and other program meetings as scheduled
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature review, in-service meetings and workshops
  • Support the vision, mission and goals, and demonstrate a commitment to the values, of the organization
  • Perform other duties as directed
