Requirements

  • French/English – spoken and written
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and CDK software
  • Ability to manage priorities

Responsibilities

  • Distribute and manage work orders, ensuring overall shop efficiency.
  • Ensure all repairs are assigned equally and fairly to technicians.
  • Monitor the progress of each repair throughout the day.
  • Prioritize and monitor all returns to the shop to ensure proper and immediate attention.
  • Inform the foreman of all returns to the shop.
  • Ensure technician productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to share labor in order to optimize operations
  • Close the shop every evening (lights, heat, doors, ventilation).
  • Monitor the condition of the shop, including cleanliness, safety, and equipment condition.
  • Report problems to the Service Manager or dealer.
  • Notify the Parts Manager and Service Manager of frequent shortages so that the situation can be corrected.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance, storage, and inventory of special tools.
  • Inform management of equipment, supplies, and repair needs to maintain department operations.
  • Prepare a list of equipment, supplies, and repairs required by the Service Department and verify it with the manager, if applicable.
  • Be aware of, understand, and comply with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations affecting maintenance work, such as hazardous waste disposal, etc.
  • Monitor technicians' daily productivity reports and attendance records.
  • Forward the hours worked file to the payroll department.
  • Motivate the technicians under his/her responsibility.
  • Strive for harmony and team spirit within the department and with all other departments.
  • Regularly review the performance of all technicians according to dealership guidelines.
  • Prepare a list of technicians for overtime in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS standards (e.g., inspection of tools and equipment, minimum of two technicians in the workshop, handling, etc.).
  • Attend various meetings by invitation.
  • Be familiar with the collective agreement provisions applicable to technician management.
  • Ensure workplace safety.
  • Present yourself in a professional manner.
  • Perform other tasks as needed and as directed by management.
