About The Position

The Role We are looking for a Workplace Safety Representative to support the continued implementation and improvement of the Workplace Safety System across the site. In this role, the person will work across multiple organizations to identify hazards and risks, strengthen compliance, reduce injuries, and help leaders build a stronger day-to-day safety culture. The role is best suited for someone who is proactive, credible on the floor, comfortable working independently, and focused on practical solutions that help return people home safely. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent EHS experience.
  • Experience in Safety or Environmental field
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) for extended periods of time (must be able to obtain / maintain a valid Passport)
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Knowledge of functional relations within plant or division
  • Highly organized and self-directed
  • Knowledge of government safety regulations; OSHA, MI-OSHA

  • Well-developed analytical, organizational, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of GM Workplace Safety System (WSS), G-Risk Process, and G-Comply Process or equivalent processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide workplace safety technical guidance, coaching, and regulatory support to leaders and employees.
  • Support site leadership in maintaining compliance with GM workplace safety requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Analyze safety data, trends, and leading indicators to identify opportunities for injury and risk reduction.
  • Assess site performance and conformance to safety requirements and help drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Partner with local leadership to strengthen employee engagement and improve safety culture across the site.
  • Coach and develop employees and leaders on safety expectations, standards, and effective safety behaviors.
  • Build strong working relationships with key partners including operations leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene, Health Services, Engineering, and union representatives.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, evaluate causes, and help develop effective countermeasures that reduce repeat.
  • Review new equipment, process changes, and operating conditions to confirm alignment with health and safety design expectations.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training, committee facilitation, site communications, and safety SharePoint content management.
