About The Position

This unpaid internship is designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field, with potential eligibility for academic credit. The intern will work with the Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Group and various working waterfronts communities and stakeholders throughout the Commonwealth. The role aims to advance opportunities to strengthen blue tech and maritime industries, while integrating public access and resilience into ports and harbors. The intern will gain knowledge about the Commonwealth's working waterfronts and its policies, engage with stakeholders, and contribute to strengthening these areas. Collaboration with the CZM team, state and federal partners, and other maritime stakeholders is expected, along with opportunities to visit various working waterfronts across the Commonwealth.

Requirements

• Must be a student or recent graduate.
• Must be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university.
• Proficiency using the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
• Comfortable with stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the Commonwealth's working waterfronts, including its policies, like CZM's Designated Port Areas.
• Coordinate with CZM, other state and federal partners, working waterfront communities, and maritime stakeholders.
• Review existing reports and resources on working waterfront, e.g. CZM's DPA Assessment, Boston Waterfront Partners Report, etc.
• Develop implementable actions for strengthening working waterfronts including increasing public access opportunities and resilience.
• Coordinate with existing efforts on working waterfronts, e.g. EOD Maritime Strategy effort.
