About The Position

A hands-on maintenance leader responsible for equipment repair, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, contractor coordination, and ensuring equipment reliability. Approximately 90% of time is spent on the plant floor performing or directly supporting maintenance activities. This role reports to the Operations Lead and oversees a team of mechanics and maintenance support associates.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience
  • At least 2 years leading a team in a senior mechanic, foreman, or supervisory capacity
  • Strong mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting experience
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, sensors, controls, and VFDs
  • Experience using a CMMS / Maintenance Management software

Nice To Haves

  • Plastic extrusion or plastic-straw manufacturing experience
  • Ontario 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and automated equipment
  • Maintain extrusion, thermoforming, packaging, material-handling, and auxiliary equipment
  • Repair motors, pumps, blowers, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, drives, cooling systems, and related components
  • Dismantle, rebuild, align, install, and recommission machinery
  • Support tooling changes, machine setup, start-up, shutdown, and breakdown recovery
  • Perform and coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Ensure PM work is completed on time and properly documented
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and root causes
  • Recommend permanent corrective actions
  • Reduce repeat breakdowns and unplanned downtime
  • Coordinate contractors, trades, service technicians, and suppliers
  • Define work scope, timelines, and expected outcomes
  • Monitor safety, progress, and work quality
  • Verify completed work before acceptance
  • Ensure employee timecards are completed accurately and approved by the due date
  • Ensure time-off requests are approved promptly in ADP Workforce Now
  • Spend most of the shift on the floor assessing teamwork, workload, morale, and production issues
  • Ensure employee training is practical and up to standard
  • Enforce Company safety procedures and applicable legal requirements
  • Ensure proper lockout/tagout, hot-work, guarding, and hazardous-energy controls
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure contractor orientation and safety compliance
  • Support incident investigations and maintain safe housekeeping
