About The Position

This is an internal-only job posting open to current members of the Town of Bridgewater AFSCME union. The Working Foreman position is within the DPW – Highway Division, AFSCME Local 1700, Grade 10. This is a full-time position with 40 hours per week, and the pay range is $65,139.36 to $87,560.72 per year. The role involves performing advanced levels of personal management, operating departmental equipment, communication, and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department. It also includes acting as a lead person on work crews, preparing records and reports, coordinating work assignments, responding to inquiries, assisting contractors and other Town departments, operating and coordinating snow emergency response, and training others in safe equipment operation. Requirements

  • Must be a positive, team player and work in a collaborative environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Truck Driver CDL Class B license required
  • Must have Hoisting Engineer License class C
  • Must have working knowledge of constructions plans and profiles.
  • Must be willing to learn and advance to a higher grade

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced levels of personal management, operate departmental equipment, verbal and written communication and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department.
  • Operate small equipment, such as, roadside mower, sidewalk plow, compressors, etc.
  • Operate equipment such as twelve (12) ton roller, grader, sweeper, front-end loader with two (2) yard bucket, and backhoe
  • Act as lead person on work crews.
  • Prepare routine records, logs and reports.
  • Provide verbal and written daily planning and scheduling of work crews and work assignments in coordination with the General Foreman or in his absence the Highway Superintendent
  • Respond to routine inquiries, requests and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.
  • Assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities.
  • Assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.
  • Operate and Coordinate snow emergency response.
  • Conduct and train others in the safe operation of power tools and heavy equipment.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, safe and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.
