About The Position

The Workforce Systems Payroll Analyst supports the optimization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes across a complex, multi-province environment (Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia). This role is responsible for ensuring payroll system accuracy, supporting transformation initiatives, and enabling standardized, efficient payroll operations while maintaining compliance with diverse provincial legislation and collective agreements. The Analyst acts as a key liaison between Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT to translate business requirements into system solutions.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-province environment
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems (Oracle Cloud Payroll strongly preferred)
  • Experience supporting system implementations, enhancements, or process improvements
  • Exposure to payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance requirements
  • PCP designation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation across multiple provinces
  • Understanding of collective agreements and payroll compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language
  • High level of accuracy and commitment to data integrity

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support Oracle Cloud Payroll system configurations, ensuring accuracy across all provinces
  • Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions
  • Support payroll processing through system validation, data integrity checks, and issue resolution
  • Analyze current payroll processes and identify opportunities for automation and standardization
  • Support initiatives to reduce manual intervention and improve data flow across systems
  • Document and maintain standardized processes while incorporating provincial variations
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Participate in payroll transformation initiatives, including system upgrades and enhancements
  • Support testing activities (UAT), including test script creation, execution, and defect resolution
  • Assist with payroll-related projects such as regulatory updates, system changes, and integrations
  • Support acquisitions and divestitures through system setup, data validation, and compliance checks
  • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and risks
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to support payroll operations and decision-making
  • Perform audits and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and compliance
  • Support internal and external audit requirements
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, and ITS teams to support system-related initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into functional system specifications
  • Provide guidance to payroll users on system functionality and best practices
  • Act as a key point of contact for system-related payroll inquiries
  • Ensure payroll system configurations align with federal and provincial legislation
  • Support implementation of regulatory changes across multiple jurisdictions
  • Assist in strengthening controls to ensure audit readiness and compliance
  • Identify risks related to payroll system processes and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Assist in developing training materials for payroll systems and processes
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training of payroll team members
  • Promote system knowledge and best practices across the payroll function
