About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join their team as a Workforce Supervisor with the Workforce Solutions Administration (WSA). This position is responsible for providing leadership, coordination, and supervision of the daily activities of an operations team; setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion; and coordinating work activities with other supervisors. Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures, and business plans. Depending on the assignment, leadership, coordination, and supervision are provided in an office environment or virtual environment for local or geographically dispersed teams. This position will be required to utilize a business methodology that drives continuous improvement. Travel will be required for State business. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on State business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience or 4 years of public contact or customer service work experience, employment counseling, or recruitment.
  • Depending on assignment: experience working with farmworkers, refugees, and veterans; service-connected veteran with other than a dishonorable discharge.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily work assignments according to a system of management principles; provide direction and instructions to staff to ensure efficient operation of the programs in area of responsibility.
  • Perform recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management functions to maintain an effective and efficient work environment.
  • Attend and conduct meetings for the dissemination of information and program compliance.
  • Design and implement procedures to ensure office operations and services are effective and efficient to meet program goals. Confer with management to resolve issues.
  • Collect, compile, analyze, and submit data and correspondence timely to all Division/Administration requests.
  • Interpret rules, regulations, and policies, along with EEO and affirmative action mandates governing DOL/DES programs.
