About The Position

The position involves providing interviewing, assessment, referral, and job-matching services to diverse customers. The position evaluates customer skills to identify and recommend appropriate vocational objectives. This role requires interaction with the general public and is designated as a position of special trust.

Requirements

Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.
Case Management experience: ability to engage and maintain positive customer relationships.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment; maintains a professional working relationship with management, co-workers, and general public.
Proficient in the application of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applications.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when exposed to sensitive information/issues.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and ability to listen effectively.
Ability to manage email and telephone activity efficiently and courteously.
Ability to assess a job seeker and create a career pathway by research, program knowledge and critical thinking.
Two (2) years of experience in career development or related field required.
Florida Workforce Professional Tier 1 mandatory within one-year (12) months of date of hire.
Participates in 15 hours of continuing education annual to maintain Workforce Professional Certification.
Compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
Compliance with workplace safety to prevent on-the-job injuries by adhering to First Cost Workforce Development policy.
Local travel may be required and must provide own transportation.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Professional or nonprofessional experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.

Responsibilities

Responsible for assessing and evaluating jobseekers to identify employment goals creating a career pathway to include achievement objectives and an appropriate combination of services and referrals to partners and community resources.
Proctors’ formal assessments to evaluate a jobseeker's interest, aptitude, and ability in various areas necessary for the determination of eligibility for the WIOA ITA and/or upon employer's request; interprets and documents results in Florida's Work Registration database per policy.
Conducts follow-up activities throughout training and post-employment per policy, maintains and records all services provided in Florida's Work Registration database and the authorized automated assistance app.
Determines and calculates customer eligibility for WIOA ITA.
Creates, maintains and updates hard copy customer case files as well as database files in accordance with audit standards.
Reports non-compliance of programs which may lead to termination of benefits.
Develops and implements an Individual Responsibility Plan (IRP) to guide students toward degree/certification completion and sustainable employment, which leads to self-sufficiency.
Enters customer accountable activity information into State system.
Creates support services authorization requests to authorize payment for Individual Training Accounts (ITA).
Conducts one-on-one interviews with WIOA ITA applicants to identify suitability and eligibility for program funding; gathers, organizes, and submits documentation to Program Manager for approval.
Responds to emails and voicemails throughout the day to identify and prioritize customer needs; responds appropriately in a timely manner.
E-mails and faxes applications and resumes to employers and/or programs upon jobseeker consent.
Assists in preparing customers for entry into employment by providing employment opportunity information, resume critique, resume writing and interviewing skills coaching, training opportunities and career planning guidance.
Performs front desk activities: proactively greets customers, obtains identification and accurately categorizes the jobseeker in the regional customer tracking systems, provides an orientation on the One Stop System, and documents any additional jobseeker services provided in Florida's Work Registration database.
Provides information on the WIOA Individual Training Account (ITA) to prospective students; attends orientations upon request at local training vendors to explain the application process.
Informs customers of job requirements, customer and employer’s rights and responsibilities, and conducts follow-up activities per policy.
Reviews Work Registration for completeness and evaluates work history, education, and job skills as they relate to an individual being job ready.
Assists customers with job search: internet usage, completing online applications, uploading resumes and providing quality job referrals.
Supports jobseekers identified with barriers to employment (Ex-Offenders, MSFW, Youth, Disability) by providing knowledge and expertise along with follow-up activities resulting in suitable employment.
Creates opportunities for individuals at all skill and experience levels by providing customers labor market information skill development tools and job matching services.
Assists customers with navigating the online application processes for various assistance programs.
Refers and administers basic skills, aptitude and vocational interest tests. Interprets and communicates results.
Provides mentoring to new hire staff members.
Participates in partner activities as necessary.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
